New to the Clinic?
If you are interested in becoming a patient at the Faculty of Dentistry, please review our general patient information overview.
Register:
Please call our main patient reception line at 416-864-8000 or click here (coming soon) to set up a registration appointment or for additional information.
Initial Cost: An initial patient screening and radiology fee of $93 will be collected to secure your first appointment. This fee applies to your screening and X-Ray appointment. If you do not attend this appointment, the $93 fee may be forfeited, and you may not be given another appointment for at least six months. The initial new patient screening and radiology fee may be charged again when a subsequent appointment is booked.
Here is the typical order of appointments:
Appointment 1: X-Rays & Screening
After you register, and have been booked for your first appointment, please bring two pieces of photo identification to this screening appointment. Your X-Rays will take place at our Oral Radiology Clinic. *Please note that wait times to book your first appointment will vary depending on the time of year.
Appointment 2: Oral Diagnosis
This appointment involves a complete oral examination and a review of your medical history and takes place at our Oral Diagnosis Clinic. Once you complete your oral diagnosis examination, and your X-Rays, the Faculty will determine if you are suitable to be treated as a patient at the Faculty of Dentistry.
Please note: As an educational institution, we reserve the right to accept only those cases that are suitable for treatment by our dental students; we regret that registration is not a guarantee of treatment. If you are determined unsuitable for the program, we will advise you to seek treatment at a private dental practice.
Assignment to a Student:
If you are determined to be a suitable candidate for the Clinic, you will be assigned to a dental student who will then manage your care. During your consultation appointment the Clinic’s policies, your treatment plan and treatment fees, will be discussed.
Appointment 3: Review & Cleaning
Once you are assigned to a dental student, you will be booked for your first clinical appointment at Clinic 1 or at the Clinic at 777 Bay St. During the initial clinical appointment, your dental student will review your medical history, followed by an initial cleaning of your teeth. Your treatment will consist of multiple appointments based on your personal availability and your student’s schedule.
Appointment 4: Treatment Planning
During this appointment, your dental student and an instructor will consult on your case and present you with treatment options, as well as a cost estimate (actual cost may vary).
Appointment 5: Treatment
Once your treatment plan has been approved, your dental student will begin treating you. Treatment will generally take more than one session.
Treatment Concludes
Once your treatment is complete, you will attend an after-care appointment and be placed on the Recall Program List.
Additional Costs:
Please note that there is a cost associated with each of your treatments. Specific costs will be identified during the treatment planning process.
Payment is due upon completion of each procedure itemized in the treatment plan. Lab fees are due prior to the start of the associated procedure.
We accept debit, credit cards, and cheques as methods of payment.
