General Clinic Information

Here is some helpful information about our clinics

  • All patients will be asked for a medical history, including which medications you are taking. We cannot proceed with treatment without this information. Everything disclosed to us is protected by the Personal Health Information Protection Act.

  • Registration at our clinics is not a guarantee of treatment. We reserve the right to accept only those cases that are suitable for treatment by our dental students.

  • If a patient does not speak English, they must bring one person to act as translator. The translator will need to stay with the patient for the entire appointment.
  • Food and beverages are not permitted in the clinical areas.
  • There are no pets allowed, except for certified service animals.

  • Please plan for child care before you come in for your appointment.
  • Unsupervised children are not allowed in our clinics’ waiting rooms. Parents are required to provide supervision at all times for children who are not being treated.
  • The Faculty is fully wheelchair accessible. Read our accessibility policy here.
  • Patients who require assistance with transferring themselves to and from the dental chair must have a caregiver help with transfers.
  • The Faculty of Dentistry clinics adhere to a zero-tolerance policy for all forms of harassment and abuse, including: violence, physical and verbal abuse, profanity, racism, sexism, and sexually inappropriate behaviour.

Cost and coverage

  • We offered high-quality dentistry at reduced fees.

  • Fees are subject to change.

  • Costs specific to your treatment will be shared during your appointment.

  • The Faculty does NOT directly bill employee and private dental insurance companies. Patients must pay for treatment and we will provide paperwork so you can obtain reimbursement.

  • The Faculty does accept government insurance programs such as Ontario Works and the Canadian Dental Care Plan. Patients do not have to pay out of pocket for services covered by government plans.

  • A limited number of patients may be eligible for assistance for costs not covered by insurance — this can be discussed at your appointment.

Cancellations

  • If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, we require advance notice.

  • Each of our clinics has its own policy regarding adequate notice, please visit your clinic’s page to confirm. (2 or 3 days’ notice is the minimum for most of our clinics.)

  • Failure to give notice may result in a cancellation fee.

  • Patients who fail to attend multiple appointments may be dismissed for non-compliance.
